First debuting on the “re-invented” AM Standard Stratocaster® in 1987, this was the first trem cover to carry the enlarged “string slot” to allow easier access to the tremolo hidden beneath. Beyond that, the construction is almost identical to all back plates released prior to the “management buyout” in the 80s, with that characteristic “offset” mounting screw on the central axis.
