One upon a time, back when we were “designing” in house, and having them made in Korea (to varying degrees of success) – we came up with a single coil called “the Daddy-o” – and, honestly? It was a great little pickup! It was intended to be “that 1957 pickup”, and, honestly? It wasn’t… it was close, but, lets be honest – it was a mass produced Far eastern pickup – there were a few things wrong with it. We eventually brought all pickup winding in house, and the Daddy-os (and the Class Acts!) were phased out and replaced by the Late 50s Single coils, which are, 100%, THAT 1957 pickup – warmer then the Daddy-os, richer in the lows, glassier and more charming in the highs, however, in recent years, honestly? We’ve been missing the old design a little, so, being that bit more experienced, I figured it was time see what we could do to get close. So, after a bit of reverse engineering on an old Daddy-o, we figured out what was good, and what was bad, and what did what and why… and after a little bit of updating and correcting the mistakes? We’ve got the Mid 50s Single coils!
