Please be aware, you have opened the "more options" section, which means your really getting into the customisation of the pickups - and thats fantastic! It'll really allow you to make the pickups your own, so wether your looking to make a set that matches up with a certain historic specification, or you'
re trying to match a single pickup to another from a different manufacturer - this is the way to do it!
Its worth keeping in mind though, that with every tweak you make, you'll be getting further and further away from what we'd call the "standard setup", and as such, that means the pickups will come under the remit of Custom work
TLA2 - Tele without the Ice Picks
PLEASE NOTE - the bridge pickup is slightly different to the photograph, the tops of the poles are flush to the top of the pickup, not raised.
The new TLA2 pickup set, specifically designed for the Telecaster® and similar guitars herald a bit of a new direction for us in this style, and take the principle we had with the T90s and really develop on it.
Basically, we wanted to make a pickup that completely fly’s in the face of the "vintage" style that’s absolutely everywhere of late, we wanted more warmth, we wanted more mid range, we wanted more body, less top end "ping", but ultimately, we still wanted it to perform in the same settings that a Telecaster® would, because, let’s be honest, it’s a proper work horse blues and country guitar, so the pickups can’t be too way out without losing that appeal.
So the bridge version is a meaty 10k lump, packed out with Alnico 2 poles, which helps balance out the normally shrill nature of the bridge pickup you'll see in this type of guitar, and in a little twist, we've fitted a nickel base plate rather than a normal brass one, simply because we didn't want to attenuate the top end further, whilst we wanted a more rounded tone, we didn't want to lose the twang most folks are looking for from a Tele®.
The neck version is a hefty 9k wound with the usual 43 AWG, sporting Alnico 2 poles - gives it a real "oomph" that works brilliantly on its own, or in combination with the bridge. Theres some beautifully creamy overtones in there that almost evoke a sort of jazz feel thanks to that extra bit of warmth.
Ideal pickups for anyone who likes a more vintage tone, but without the sharp edges, and perfect for Country, Blues, Light Rock - pretty much anywhere you'd use a Tele®
