Wiring loom - For Stratocaster® - Fat Strat®
This is a loom designed for a Stratocaster® with a humbucker in the bridge position, and single coils in neck and bridge.
On the face of it, your average Fat Strat® looks a fairly simple beast electrically, as long as its running on 500k pots, then it should do its job right?
In reality, when you introduce a bridge humbucker into a circuit with single coils, you have to take into account the fact you could, potentially, have 3 coils running at the same time - and thats the last thing you want, because of the inherent phase and polarity cancellation. Basically, running a humbucker and a single coil at he same time, will sound like you've coil tapped the humbucer down to a single coil.
So, we've designed this loom to sort that out - using a super switch, this loom will automatically coil tap the humbucker in position 2, down to the correct coil to run along side the middle pickup, giving you 5 usable position.
But beyond that, its business as usual realy, master volume, "neck" tone control now controls all "single coil" positions, and "middle" tone now controls the bridge humbucker only.
Wired up, to order, here at Axes Towers in Hull, East Yorkshire, using CTS pots (500k, modern audio taper on vol and tone) a Cornell Dubillier orange drop capacitor (0.022 @ 100v), an Axesrus 5 way superswitch, all using 22 AWG vinitage cloth cover wired for the cleanest signal path possible.
And to top it off, its supplied with a top of the range Switchcraft Mono socket (short thread)
