Description Technical Specs

Gibson® sized humbucker ring, slightly narrower then the Epiphone® size version, with a slightly softer radius on the corners, and pretty much exclusively used by Gibson®.

Theres a weird quirk with Gibson® sized humbucker rings - regardless of the contours on the face of the guitar, the rings are always the flat across the bottom.

Fitting them to a flat topped guitar, is very simple, but anything with a curve can be a little more challenging.

We find that heating them gently (with a hair dryer!) is the "quickest/dirtiest" way of forming them around the curve, and that seems to be how they are fitted in the factory, and explains the slight curve across the top of the rings you find on most Gibson® Les Paul® models - but - be warned, there is a chance of melting the plastic, or snapping it if you dont get it warm enough.

We've seen people cut, file and sand these rings to match the contour of the guitars, which is a little more time consuming, but much safer - so its the trade off.

You might be wondering why the Gibson® spec rings dont have the curved base found on the Epiphone® version? Thats actually an interesting point of note. Epiphone® guitars with a curved top are normally uniformly curved to, approximately, a 12" radius. Gibson® dont seem to use a true radius, with most of their guitars "curving up" to the section where the pickups mount, and then gradually flattening out across the peak, and then curving away - so that irregular shape is why we still see flat rings formed around the curve, rather then rings with the accounted for and built in.

Worth noting too, the swatch images show the rings in situ with a pickguard to show the colour match - but the pickguards are not supplied, simply because there are so many different versions fitted to Gibson® guitars - if you need a pickguard, they're here.

Please note - these are not official Gibson® Parts
