Staple pickups originally turned up in various guises on Hofner® guitars - and theres quite alot of mystery surrounding them to boot.

The most common misconception is that all staple pickups are actually humbuckers (or Mini humbuckers!) - and this isn't always true. Most "Staples" (with the exposed staple poles) are actually single coils, with the staple being used to extend the magnet field.

One of the "oddity" sizes of bar magnet - sometimes turn up in P90s, sometimes turn up in Mini-buckers, very rarely, even in full sized humbuckers. As always, worth checking the sizes to make sure this is the one you need.

These are the staple poles that turn up on, surprisingly, staple pickups - often thought to sit within a coil, they are usually used to simply extend the magnetic field of the bar magnet.
