Description Technical Specs

Originally, humbucker bases were slightly different to what we know nowadays - built at a time when the pickups only really turned up in the Gibson® Les Paul® - the legs were specifically designed to sit under a very thick "top panel" and still get the poles on the bobbins up near the strings - so in this case, we're looking at a long legged base.

One of the other, strange quirks, is that the original humbuckers didn't come in "neck" and "bridge" models - just a single model, so with a vintage base, the "wire" hole is always on the screw side of the bobbin. Installing this base in the neck? The the wire will come out of the top corner of the pickup, not the bottom, as with a modern base.

And, probably the strangest thing about vintage bases/original humbuckers, is that the holes for the pole bolts, are actually threaded (similar to a mini humbucker!) - specifically, to 5-40UNC (but you can thread an M3 bolt in there too, which is handy)

So thats pretty much the long and short of it - these are humbucker bases, that get as close as we can, to the original bases used back in the 50s - warts and all.

Available in 49.2mm (only size available back then!) in Nickel (german silver) or Brass. Ideal for historical repairs or new builds.
