What really caught our eye was those all important measurements, with the narrow 52.38mm (2 1/16") string and screw spacing and full sized block.
The milled steel block is incredibly rare on most narrow string spacing trems spaced tremolos and whilst steel is considered an upgrade over zinc, it's worth bearing in mind that tone is a very personal thing and whilst the majority prefer steel, there’s always a place for different opinions on guitars.
Firstly, steel is a more expensive material, so that’s reflected in the price, but from a tonal perspective, steel has a much more aggressive character to its sound. Sustain is probably the first thing people talk about when comparing Steel and Zinc, with Steel being much more pronounced, and the high end very crisp and bright. Another point worth noting is that steel seems to offer a volume boost.
Whilst Zinc is more suited to modern sound, Steel really captures that vintage sound with ease – that crisp, biting quack from the 50s and 60s absolutely shines through in the mix.
Supplied with trem arm, springs, screws, claw and Hex key.
