Hollow Body - Wiring

This is a wiring loom designed to fit into a Gibson® Hollow Body such as the 335® or similar guitar, built here in the UK to order using CTS pots, Switchcraft socket and switch, 22 AWG waxed cloth wire with the braided external screen and Cornell Dubliner (formerly Sprague) “Orange Drop” capacitors – all in all, about the highest stamp of parts that are available on the market.

With this loom, we’ve taken real consideration to keep the wires from crossing over the area where they’d be visible through the “F holes” you find on most hollow bodies, and we’ve used a short shaft switch rather than the traditional angled version, simply because they’re a much smaller footprint, and much easier to install as a result.

Hollow bodies for us, always evoke that idea of “the finer things in life”, the extra resonance, the naturally “big” nature of the sound they produce, and its worth bearing that in mind when looking at replacement pickups – but electrically, its business as usual – 4 controls, 2 volume, 2 tone, toggle and a mono output – and this loom will work perfectly with both Humbuckers and P90s – which just about overs every modern hollow body you’ll see.

So with that in mind, we’re making this pre-assembled loom up as a drop in replacement or upgrade for your guitars – dead easy to fit, just attach the pickups to the respective volume pot, connect the ground wire from the bridge to the ground loop - and your away – everything else has been done for you.

One little tip – because most hollow bodies don’t have an panel on the back to access the electrics, its worth feeding through aquarium airline tubing (or at a push, some lengths of solder) though the pot/switch/socket holes once everything’s soldered and ready to put into place. Feed the tube out through the F hole, and over the top of the pots, then draw them into the body nice and gently – the extra rigidity of the tubing makes it much easier to do then using string.

Technical Brief

500k Pots (Logarithmic), 3 way toggle, mono output, 0.022 capacitor, wired to the "modern" standard

Please note – these assemblies are made to order, and as such, come under the rules and regulations pertaining to custom work in regards of returns.

Also note – these are not official Gibson® or Epiphone® part

5 of 5 Great upgrade for Epiphone Casino December 29, 2020
Reviewer: Ming from Amsterdam, Noord-Holland Netherlands
Ordered this pre-wired loom with metric thread as a drop-in upgrade for the electronics in my MIC Epiphone Casino (alpha pots and Epiphone-branded jack and switch). It noticeably opened up the tone with more high-end coming through, sounding less muddy.

Service was great and fast. Highly recommended!

5 of 5 Antoria Twincaster January 15, 2016
Reviewer: John McArdle from UK
Just a quick note to say thanks for your help when I was ordering a wiring loom (with extra length on the switch wires) for my 1968 model Antoria Twincaster. It had not been in working order for almost 40 years! Working perfectly now! Once again many thanks.
