A standard 6 string tail piece,made from Aluminium - beautifully plated in either Gold, Chrome or Nickel, and supplied with (or without) either imperial or metric bushes, in a range of different sizes - plenty of variables, but ultimately, a very simple guitar part - turn up on most "non tremolo" guitars, and simply act as an anchor point for the strings before they travel over the saddles.

Locking tail piece posts are quite clever actually. The "top" section of the post unscrews onto the bottom, so its capable of "holding" the tail piece in situ, so it will never fall off and go missing mid string change.
